Grimes Dentistry‘s Infection Control

Infection control and universal precautions protect patients and providers. Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control — you, your dentist, and the dental team. Trust is the cornerstone of a good, and safe dental practice. Feel free to discuss this topic with Dr. Grimes, Dr. Mathur and Dr. Lewis and receive straightforward answers.

Grimes Dentistry follows procedures recommended by several federal agencies: the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

These measures include:

  • Consistent use of disinfectant hand soap
  • Consistent use of gloves, goggles and face masks
  • Consistent chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
  • Consistent sterilization of all equipment before every use
  • Disposable, “one-time use only” materials
  • Disposable gowns
  • Nightly cleaning and sanitizing of our entire facility

The Grimes Dentistry team sterilizes all reusable equipment, including dental hand pieces. We use an autoclave, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure.

We use self-contained, disinfected, reverse osmosis water in all our hand pieces.

The best defense against disease is information. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make wise decisions about your health care. The more you know about our daily procedures and policies, the more comfortable you will feel.

Grimes Dentistry provides dental care for our team and our own families using the same precautions. Cleanliness – We wouldn’t have it any other way!
