Before Root Canal Treatment
Prior to receiving a root canal, you may be experiencing pain or discomfort. At Grimes Dentistry, we take every precaution necessary to create a comfortable and safe environment for you to receive dental treatment. Read the steps to prepare for a root canal treatment at our practice:
- All root canals are performed under local anesthesia. The area being treated will be thoroughly numbed so you feel no discomfort.
- Our doctors may ask that you avoid taking aspirin prior to your procedure.
- You may drive yourself to your appointment unless you have chosen to be sedated.
- Continue to take all medications prescribed by your primary care physician.
Antibiotic premedication may be recommended by our doctor if you have certain conditions such as a heart murmur, or if you have had a hip or knee replacement. You will need an antibiotic prior to your root canal if you have a prosthetic heart valve. We encourage you to reach out to us prior to your appointment if you have any questions.
To eat or not to eat? If you are receiving nitrous oxide sedation, oral sedation, or IV sedation you will be given sedation-specific eating instructions prior to your appointment. If you are not receiving those types of sedation, it is fine to eat what you like! Please reach out to us at Grimes Dentistry, Grimes Dentistry Phone Number 806-798-3384, prior to your appointment with any questions.
